Sleep Apnoea & Snoring
Comprehensive Assessment for Sleep Apnoea & Snoring
Snoring and sleep apnoea don’t just affect your nights – for some people, they can also affect energy, wellbeing and overall health. And it’s rarely just you affected: loved ones sharing your bed (or even your home) often feel the impact too, through disrupted sleep of their own.
At Whitehorse Smile Care, we offer a dental pathway for the assessment and management of snoring and mild-to-moderate obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA).
Our Approach
We work with patients to explore whether a dental approach may help with snoring or sleep-disordered breathing, in collaboration with a sleep and respiratory physician who reviews and reports on your results.
How It Works
1. Consultation we start with a conversation about your symptoms, sleep history, and any concerns you or your family have noticed.
2. Home Sleep Study where appropriate, we can arrange a home sleep study for you – no GP referral required. You’re assessed in the comfort of your own bed and your results are reviewed and reported on by a sleep and respiratory physician.
3. Diagnosis & Discussion – we go through your results together and talk through what they mean and whether a dental appliance may be suitable.
4. Custom Oral Appliance – if appropriate, we provide a custom-made oral appliance designed to help keep your airway more open during sleep.
5. Ongoing Review – we monitor your progress and adjust your appliance as needed.
Why a Dental Appliance?
For some people with snoring or mild-to-moderate OSA, a custom oral appliance may be a suitable alternative to CPAP. Suitability depends on individual assessment – our team can help you understand whether this option may be right for you.
